DU College Difficulty Ranking

The 7 DU Colleges, Ranked by How Hard They Actually Are to Get Into

The full cutoff breakdown, college by college, plus a tool to check exactly where your CUET score lands.

Before you scroll the ranking

If you just commented DU, you are probably staring at a CUET score right now, trying to work out whether it is good enough. Or you are a parent trying to figure out if your child's list of "safe" colleges is actually safe.

This page gives you both things: the honest difficulty order of these seven colleges, and a checker below that tells you where your specific score realistically lands. No vague reassurance. No "just apply and see."

Check Where Your Score Lands

Enter your CUET score out of 1000 and pick your target program. This checks you against 2025 closing trends for these seven colleges.

These are 2025 General category closing trends, based on the last CSAS round. OBC, SC, ST and EWS cutoffs typically run 20 to 90 points lower depending on college and category, and every year shifts slightly with normalization. Treat this as a realistic zone, not a guarantee.

The Full Ranking, 7 to 1

Ranked purely on how hard the closing score is to reach across Commerce and Psychology, the two programs this breakdown covers.

Kamala Nehru College

Most accessible strong women's college in this list
BCom Hons closing
800+ / 1000
Psychology closing
800+ / 1000
A genuinely strong women's college with a real academic reputation, sitting at a score band that is achievable for a much wider pool of students than the rest of this list.
Right for you if: you want a respected DU college experience without needing a near-perfect CUET percentile.

Gargi College

A clear step up from Kamala Nehru, still well outside the top tier
BCom Hons closing
830+ / 1000
Psychology closing
830+ / 1000
Gargi's Commerce and Psychology departments both carry strong placement and academic reputations, which is why the score requirement sits meaningfully above Kamala Nehru despite both being accessible relative to the top five.
Right for you if: you want a stronger academic reputation than Kamala Nehru and can clear a slightly higher bar for it.

Hansraj College

Closes just a few marks below the true top Commerce colleges
BCom Hons closing
~895 to 905 / 1000
Psychology closing
~890 to 900 / 1000
Hansraj sits right at the edge of the elite tier. Its Commerce and Economics departments are genuinely competitive with SRCC and Hindu on faculty and placement quality, but the closing score gives you slightly more room than the top three.
Right for you if: you are chasing a top-tier Commerce or Science education but want a marginally more realistic score target than SRCC or Hindu.

Lady Shri Ram College

Best Commerce and Psychology cutoffs outside the top two
BCom Hons closing
900+ / 1000
Psychology closing
900+ / 1000
LSR is consistently one of the most sought after women's colleges in the country. Both its Commerce and Psychology programs close above 900, which puts it firmly in the top tier even though it sits below SRCC, St Stephen's, and Hindu on this specific list.
Right for you if: you want a top-tier college with strong placement and a name that carries real weight, without the interview layer St Stephen's adds.

Shri Ram College of Commerce

The toughest Commerce-only cutoff in the country
BCom Hons closing
917+ / 1000
Psychology
Not offered
SRCC does not run a Psychology program, which is the only reason it sits at 3 on a mixed Commerce and Psychology list. For Commerce specifically, SRCC's closing score is higher than Hindu's. If Commerce is your only target, treat SRCC as the actual number one.
Right for you if: Commerce is your specific goal and you are aiming for the single toughest, most recognised Commerce degree in the country.

St Stephen's College

Adds a personal interview on top of an already tough score
Screening CUET score
~890 to 900 / 1000
Second stage
Personal interview
St Stephen's is one of the very few DU colleges that still holds a personal interview after the CUET screening stage. That means clearing the score gets you a conversation, not a seat. This extra filter is why it ranks above SRCC and LSR even without the single highest raw score on this list.
Right for you if: you interview well and want a college where the selection process itself signals something on your resume for years.

Hindu College

The highest closing score in Delhi University
Highest closing (Pol. Science)
950+ / 1000
BCom Hons closing
~900 to 910 / 1000
Hindu's overall highest closing score, driven by Political Science, is the single highest number in this entire university. Its Commerce program is strong but not the toughest in the country for Commerce alone, which is what keeps SRCC ahead of it on a Commerce-specific comparison.
Right for you if: you want the single most competitive score environment in DU, and your target program is broader than Commerce alone.

Why SRCC sits below Hindu here, even though its Commerce cutoff is higher

This ranking reflects each college's overall closing score, not a single-program comparison. Hindu's overall number is higher only because of Political Science, which is not part of this Commerce and Psychology breakdown. If you are applying specifically for Commerce, SRCC's cutoff is the higher of the two, and you should treat SRCC as the tougher target for that program.

What the Cutoff Number Doesn't Tell You

Straight from counselling conversations with students who got these numbers wrong.

Your category changes everything. A General category score of 880 and an OBC score of 880 land in completely different admission realities. Always check category-wise cutoffs on the CSAS portal directly, not just the General number everyone quotes.
Round 1 cutoffs are not the whole story. Several of these colleges see their effective cutoff drop across CSAS rounds 2 and 3 as seats vacate. A score that looks out of reach in round 1 can still get you in by round 3.
Normalization moves the number every year. CUET scores are normalized across exam shifts and boards, so this year's 900 is not identical to last year's 900. Use these numbers as a zone, not a fixed target.
A "lower ranked" college here is still a strong outcome. Kamala Nehru and Gargi are genuinely good colleges with real placement records. This ranking measures difficulty of entry, not quality of education. Don't let a 7 or 6 on this list feel like a consolation prize.
