The 12 Certifications This Test Compares

Most "which certification should I do" content online is really a pitch for one coaching provider's flagship course. This test scores your answers against all of these, side by side, on the same criteria.

CA (Chartered Accountant)
India's most respected finance credential. Statutory audit, taxation, GST, and company law.
CMA India (ICMAI)
India's cost accounting credential. Cheapest path here, with statutory cost audit rights in India.
CMA US (IMA)
The faster, MNC/GCC-facing management-accounting credential. Not the same qualification as CMA India.
CS (Company Secretary)
India's corporate governance and compliance credential. The legal/secretarial track, not accounting.
US CPA
The US accounting license. Best where US GAAP, SEC reporting, or US-HQ'd firms matter.
CPA Australia
Australia/IFRS-facing equivalent of US CPA. Best if your target geography is Australia or APAC.
CFA
The global investment credential. Equity research, portfolio management, capital markets.
CIMA
UK-based management accounting credential. Strategy, FP&A, and CFO-track, not audit-focused.
ACCA
The most globally mobile accounting credential. IFRS-based audit, tax, and reporting in 180+ countries.
FRM
The gold standard for risk management. Market, credit, and operational risk at banks and regulators.
FMVA
A fast, cheap skill-credential in modeling and valuation. Best as an add-on, not a standalone path.
CFP
The client-facing wealth and financial planning credential. A different persona from the analyst tracks above.

How This Test Avoids Bias

Every certification is scored against the same eight career-role dimensions, audit & compliance, corporate FP&A, investment & markets, risk management, cost & manufacturing, legal & governance, wealth advisory, and modeling & valuation, weighted alongside your real constraints: quantitative comfort, domestic vs global intent, target region, budget ceiling, timeline patience, and tolerance for a hard, low-pass-rate path.

Nothing is hard-coded as the default winner. Before this page went live, the scoring engine was run against 16 different synthetic student profiles built specifically to try to break it, and every one of the 11 standalone certifications won the top spot for at least one profile. Where two certifications suit the same profile almost equally (like CIMA and CMA US, or ACCA and US CPA), the test asks a direct follow-up question rather than guessing.

Common Questions About This Test

Is this certification test really free?
Yes. The test is completely free, takes about 6-8 minutes, and gives you an instant result with no payment involved.
How is this different from just asking which certification is best?
There is no single best certification. This test weighs your subject strengths, interests, budget, timeline, and goals against real 2026 cost, duration, difficulty, and salary data for 11 certifications, then explains why your match fits and why the runner-ups do not.
Which certifications does this test cover?
CA, CMA India (ICMAI), CMA US (IMA), CS, US CPA, CPA Australia, CFA, CIMA, ACCA, FRM, and CFP, plus FMVA as an add-on skill suggestion where relevant.
Can I take this if I haven't chosen commerce yet?
Yes, but if you haven't committed to a stream at all, AptiGuide's free RIASEC-based stream test is a better starting point before narrowing down to a specific commerce certification.
Does the test recommend combining two certifications?
Where it makes sense, yes. Recognized combinations like CA plus CFA, ACCA plus US CPA, or CFA plus FRM are surfaced when your answers point toward both.
