The Reality Most People Don't See
How to Build These Three Skills Before Your Child Starts Working
These are not innate โ they are built through specific experiences and exposure.
- โCommunication: Create opportunities to speak formally โ debate, presentations, family discussions where they lead. Writing practice with real feedback.
- โFinancial literacy: Involve them in family financial decisions from age 16. Explain taxes, insurance, and investments as you encounter them.
- โResilience: Let them fail at small things without rescue. Debrief failures as data โ not as evidence of inadequacy. The practice transfers.
- โ Waiting until they start working to discover they cannot communicate, cannot manage money, and cannot handle rejection is expensive. All three are buildable before they graduate.
