Entry route: Three accepted pathways, best score counted if more than one is submitted: IIMB's own DBE entrance test (50% floor, General), CUET UG Section III (70th percentile floor, General), or JEE Main (50th percentile floor, General). Taking IIMB's own test is optional if you already hold a valid CUET or JEE score.
Stage after eligibility: Confirmed as a holistic, competitive selection, not automatic admission at the floor. The 50th percentile is the eligibility bar to apply, the actual admitted cohort is understood to sit well above it given demand, no separate admitted-cohort cutoff has been published.
Right for: Students whose JEE Main percentile clears 50 but falls short of a strong engineering branch, who want a business and entrepreneurship path immediately rather than engineering-then-MBA later.
A 50th percentile score gets dismissed constantly in engineering-only conversations. On this specific door, it is the exact published floor, not a euphemism for a low score.

IIM Mumbai · BS (Digital Science & Business Management)
Entry via JEE Main Paper 1
Brand new, no cutoff yet
Entry route: Admission is exclusively through JEE Main Paper 1, confirmed on IIM Mumbai's own application-procedure page. Apply for JEE Main separately, then submit the IIM Mumbai application with a valid score.
Eligibility: Mathematics and Physics compulsory at 10+2 (not the full PCM combination), minimum 60% aggregate for General/EWS/NC-OBC (55% for SC/ST/PwD), and born on or after 1 August 2006 (5-year relaxation for SC/ST/PwD).
Honest flag: No admission cutoff percentile or rank has been published for this brand-new program, and there is no graduated cohort yet. A secondary aggregator reports a 70:30 JEE-to-interview weightage, that figure does not appear on IIM Mumbai's own site and is not used here.
Right for: Students with clean Math and Physics marks who want an IIM-branded program early, and are genuinely comfortable being a founding batch without years of placement proof behind them yet.
The honest trade-off here is real, not a footnote: IIM brand, zero track record. That is a decision a family should make with eyes open, not one this page will paper over.
IIM Sambalpur · BS (Data Science & AI)
Entry via JEE Main
No cutoff published
Entry route: A valid JEE Main 2026 score is mandatory for all applicants, confirmed directly on IIM Sambalpur's own admissions FAQ, which states JEE Main is the sole mode of admission for this cycle, no alternative score accepted.
Stage: Two-stage, confirmed as JEE Main score followed by an online personal interview for shortlisted candidates.
Honest flag: No percentile or rank cutoff has been published for shortlisting, the FAQ directs specific queries to the admissions office.
Right for: JEE Main takers curious about data science and AI as a first degree, without needing an engineering seat as a first step.
This door gets almost no attention because "IIM Sambalpur" doesn't carry the name recognition of the older IIMs, not because the entry mechanism is any less real.

IIM Lucknow · BS (AI & Business Analytics)
Entry via JEE Advanced
JEE Advanced qualifiers only
Entry route: JEE Advanced qualification is required, confirmed via coverage citing IIM Lucknow's own site. No separate management entrance exam exists for this program at all, JEE Advanced is the only gate.
Format: A dual-degree style undergraduate program combining technology and business, positioned as a Tech MBA-adjacent track from Class 12 rather than a later, separate MBA.
Right for: JEE Advanced qualifiers whose rank did not land the IIT branch they wanted, who would rather combine AI and business now than repeat a year or settle for a lower-choice engineering branch.
Among the four, this is the hardest door to reach, since JEE Advanced itself is the bar. It is also the one families are least likely to have heard connects to an IIM at all.

One Door Already Shut
IIM Kozhikode's BMS accepted a JEE-linked pathway in an earlier cycle. Its official 2026-30 admission policy runs entirely on its own Aptitude Test, Class XII marks and Class X marks for shortlisting, then a personal interview, JEE Main is not part of the current criteria at all. These windows do not stay open indefinitely, which is exactly why the four still open deserve a real look now rather than "eventually."
A Counselling Pattern
Why This Door Stays Invisible
In counselling sessions, students with a mid-range JEE Main percentile almost never bring up IIMs on their own, because their JEE score has been packaged to them for exactly one purpose: filling engineering seats. Coaching structures, rank predictors and college-comparison tools are all built around that one funnel, so a second, entirely legitimate door does not fit the packaging and gets buried, not hidden by anyone in particular, just never mentioned.
None of the four programs above are consolation prizes. They are national-level IIM undergraduate degrees, open to any JEE Main or JEE Advanced taker in India who clears the published floor, evaluated on the same entrance score families already have in hand.

Who Should Actually Chase This Route
- Your JEE Main percentile clears at least the 50th percentile, or you qualified JEE Advanced, and you are genuinely open to a business or AI-and-business path rather than pure engineering.
- You would rather enter an IIM-branded undergraduate program now than write CAT after a separate bachelor's degree and years of work experience.
- For the newer programs (Mumbai, Sambalpur), you and your family are comfortable being an early batch with no placement track record yet, in exchange for the brand and the head start.
- You want a second, real option to compare against your engineering options, not a guaranteed replacement for one.

Do I need to give CAT to get into an IIM?
Not for these programs. IIM Bangalore, IIM Mumbai, IIM Sambalpur and IIM Lucknow all run undergraduate degrees you can enter straight after Class 12 using a JEE score, no CAT, no bachelor's degree first, and no separate management entrance exam.
What JEE Main percentile does IIM Bangalore's BBA (DBE) require?
IIM Bangalore's own FAQ page states a JEE Main floor of the 50th percentile for General category applicants, one of three accepted pathways alongside IIMB's own entrance test and CUET. This is the eligibility floor to apply, not a guaranteed-admission cutoff, the program is also holistic and competitive.
Can I join an IIM undergraduate program with only a JEE Main score, no JEE Advanced?

Is it safe to join IIM Mumbai's brand new BS program with no graduating batch yet?
That is the real trade-off, and it should be named honestly. IIM Mumbai's BS in Digital Science and Business Management has no published admission cutoff and no graduated cohort yet, you would be an early batch carrying the IIM brand without years of placement proof behind it. Families comfortable with that trade-off get in earlier and cheaper, families who want proof first should wait for a few graduating batches.
Can I still get into an IIM through JEE at IIM Kozhikode?
Not currently. IIM Kozhikode's official 2026-30 BMS admission policy runs entirely on its own Aptitude Test, Class XII marks and Class X marks, JEE Main is not part of the criteria. A JEE-linked pathway existed in an earlier cycle but is not part of the current published policy.
